| 1.) The Society shall be called The Lancashire
Entertainers Golfing Society. |
| 2.) All competitions will be played according
to the rules of "The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews" and
the Bye Laws appertaining to the course being played on the date of
competition. The Competition Secretary will be in complete control
on the date and any local ruling given by him will be honored. In
the event of his absence the Captain or most senior official present
will officiate. |
| 3.) Membership is open only to professional,
semi-professional and ex-professional entertainers, musicians and
sportsmen. NOTE: Any member proposing a new member should be certain
that their status qualifies them for membership under this rule. A
provision will be made for a small amount of Associate Members at
the Committee's discretion. |
| 4.) The Council shall consist of The Captain,
Vice-Captain and Secretary. A general committee will be elected by
ballot at the Annual General Meeting. The committee will consist of
the Council, immediate past Captain and three other members. Council
positions are not for re-election unless there is a vote of no confidence
in the person concerned or by retirement. The Captain is responsible
for the choice of his Vice-Captain, who will automatically succeed
as Captain in the following year. |
| 5.) The committee may expel any member(s) for
misconduct on the course, in the clubhouse, or, if in their opinion,
he has brought the Society into disrepute. |
| 6. Subscriptions will be set at the A.G.M. and
must be paid by March 31st each year. Any unpaid member by that date
will be in default and will not be eligible for any competition, roll-up
or Society concession. |
| 7. The Handicap Secretary is solely responsible
for determining handicaps and necessary adjustments according to the
points system. |
| 8. Members without a handicap must put three
cards in for assessment. Prior to this he will play off a maximum
of 18. |
| 9. The Society sweater is proof of membership
and should be worn on arrival at the club, when first entering the
clubhouse and at all meetings. Local ruling for collar and tie and
jacket will supersede this rule. |
| 10. Golf shoes must be worn at all times on the
course but at no time in the clubhouse other than in the changing
rooms. The same applies to wet suits. Any member contravening this
rule will be deemed as bringing the Society into disrepute and rule
5 will apply. |
| 11. Any member having a complaint must put their
grievance in writing to either the Secretary or Captain, to be brought
before the committee whose decision will be final. |
| 12. A member is solely responsible for the conduct
of their guest at all times. |
| 13. New members must apply on the official membership
form, together with the entrance fee. Their application will be screened
by the committee for acceptance. Anyone declined from membership will
have their fee refunded. This does not apply to expulsion. |
| 14. Tuesday will be the playing day for roll-ups
and major competitions unless otherwise stated on the competition
sheet. Tee off 10.15 for 10.30. (No reserved Tee off times) |
| 15. It is up to the member to inform the Secretary
if he will be playing in a major competition. |
| 16. Guests will be allowed with a member but
they will not be allowed to participate in a L.E.G.S. competition,
maximum three visits per year. |
| 17. In the event of an equal vote from the committee,
the Council will decide the outcome. |
| 18. The Captain will take office at the A.G.M. |
| 19. The committee may add to the rules at their
discretion. |
| 20. COURSE ETIQUETTE |
| a) All pitch marks on greens must be repaired. |
| b) No trolleys or bags are allowed on greens. |
| c) All fairway divots must be replaced. |
| d) No denim wear, tracksuits or trainers, suitable
dress at all times. |
| e) Gentlemanly conduct must be maintained at
all times. |
| f) Avoid slow play and wave people through where
necessary. |
| 21. COMPETITIONS |
| a) Members will be notified by post from the
Secretary of future comps. |
| b) Members must inform the Secretary of their
intention to play or not. |
| c) Competition times will be set and must be
adhered to. |
| d) After competitions all cards must be handed
in for handicap purposes, even no returns. |
| e) All cards should be checked and signed by
both marker and player. Incorrect cards will result in disqualification. |
| f) f) Any member winning a major competition
will be deducted 0.2 times their category (see table below) plus the
appropriate amount as per “The Standard Scratch Score and Handicap
scheme” if under standard scratch. Any player who plays under
Standard Scratch will also be reduced accordingly. |

| 22. ELECTIONS |
| The committee will be elected by a ballot of
members present at the A.G.M. and will take office on April 1st for
one year. Members may vote for two people including one vote for themselves,
should they be a nominee. Any nominee should be a fully paid up member
with at least two years consecutive membership. |
