RULES & REGULATIONS

1.)  The Society shall be called The Lancashire Entertainers Golfing Society.
2.)  All competitions will be played according to the rules of "The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews" and the Bye Laws appertaining to the course being played on the date of competition. The Competition Secretary will be in complete control on the date and any local ruling given by him will be honored. In the event of his absence the Captain or most senior official present will officiate.
3.)  Membership is open only to professional, semi-professional and ex-professional entertainers, musicians and sportsmen. NOTE: Any member proposing a new member should be certain that their status qualifies them for membership under this rule. A provision will be made for a small amount of Associate Members at the Committee's discretion.
4.)  The Council shall consist of The Captain, Vice-Captain and Secretary. A general committee will be elected by ballot at the Annual General Meeting. The committee will consist of the Council, immediate past Captain and three other members. Council positions are not for re-election unless there is a vote of no confidence in the person concerned or by retirement. The Captain is responsible for the choice of his Vice-Captain, who will automatically succeed as Captain in the following year.
5.)  The committee may expel any member(s) for misconduct on the course, in the clubhouse, or, if in their opinion, he has brought the Society into disrepute.
6.  Subscriptions will be set at the A.G.M. and must be paid by March 31st each year. Any unpaid member by that date will be in default and will not be eligible for any competition, roll-up or Society concession.
7.  The Handicap Secretary is solely responsible for determining handicaps and necessary adjustments according to the points system.
8.  Members without a handicap must put three cards in for assessment. Prior to this he will play off a maximum of 18.
9.  The Society sweater is proof of membership and should be worn on arrival at the club, when first entering the clubhouse and at all meetings. Local ruling for collar and tie and jacket will supersede this rule.
10.  Golf shoes must be worn at all times on the course but at no time in the clubhouse other than in the changing rooms. The same applies to wet suits. Any member contravening this rule will be deemed as bringing the Society into disrepute and rule 5 will apply.
11.  Any member having a complaint must put their grievance in writing to either the Secretary or Captain, to be brought before the committee whose decision will be final.
12.  A member is solely responsible for the conduct of their guest at all times.
13.  New members must apply on the official membership form, together with the entrance fee. Their application will be screened by the committee for acceptance. Anyone declined from membership will have their fee refunded. This does not apply to expulsion.
14.  Tuesday will be the playing day for roll-ups and major competitions unless otherwise stated on the competition sheet. Tee off 10.15 for 10.30. (No reserved Tee off times)
15.  It is up to the member to inform the Secretary if he will be playing in a major competition.
16.  Guests will be allowed with a member but they will not be allowed to participate in a L.E.G.S. competition, maximum three visits per year.
17.  In the event of an equal vote from the committee, the Council will decide the outcome.
